President Prabowo Subianto has announced an ambitious target to expand the Free Nutritious Meal Program (Makan Bergizi Gratis / MBG) to reach 82.9 million children across Indonesia by the end of 2025. This initiative has become a national priority and a matter of urgency. During the 27th anniversary of the National Awakening Party (PKB), Prabowo shared a personal and heartfelt experience from his visit to Central Java, where he witnessed the overwhelming demand for the program.
While traveling from Solo to Klaten, Prabowo saw schoolchildren, teachers, and locals showing their support for the program. Touched by their enthusiasm, he immediately instructed his team to accelerate program implementation, aiming to reach 20 million children by mid-August. The goal is to eventually reach 82.9 million children by December 2025.
Prabowo emphasized the importance of proper management of public funds and resources for the program’s success. He mentioned that the effort is gaining global attention, with other nations expressing interest in learning from Indonesia’s approach. Despite the ambitious target, Prabowo acknowledged the need to deliver results and invited accountability for his promises.
The Free Nutritious Meal Program is part of Prabowo’s broader vision to address child hunger, malnutrition, and learning disparities. By ensuring that every child has access to nutritious meals, regardless of their background, Prabowo aims to support their growth, learning, and overall success.
