Prabowo Subianto Meets National Assembly Chair to Explore Cooperation Opportunities Following Meeting with Vietnam’s President

Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto continued his working visit to Vietnam by meeting with the Chairman of Vietnam’s National Assembly, Tran Thanh Man, on Saturday, September 14.

This meeting followed Prabowo’s earlier engagement with Vietnam’s President, H.E. Tô Lâm, on Friday, September 13.

During the bilateral talks with Chairman Tran Thanh Man, Prabowo discussed various strategic issues and the strengthening of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Vietnam. Both parties expressed optimism about deepening the strategic cooperation between the two nations, with a focus on fostering collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

Prabowo appreciated the constructive discussions held with the Chairman and emphasized the potential for Indonesia and Vietnam to contribute positively to regional stability.

“We see significant potential to deepen defense relations with Vietnam, which will undoubtedly contribute positively to the stability of the region,” Prabowo remarked.

Several key figures accompanied Prabowo during the meeting, including Indonesia’s Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Denny Abdi; member of Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR) Commission I, Sugiono; and Indonesian Defense Attaché to Vietnam, Colonel Dian Tri Hutanto.

On the Vietnamese side, Chairman Tran Thanh Man was joined by Mr. Vu Hai Ha, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Assembly; Mr. Hoang Thanh Tung, Chairman of the Law Committee of the National Assembly; Vietnam’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Mr. Ta Van Thong; and several high-ranking officials from the National Assembly and Foreign Affairs departments.

The meeting further solidified the commitment of both nations to pursue strengthened ties in defense and other critical sectors, ensuring lasting peace and cooperation in the Southeast Asian region. (RR)
