Prabowo Subianto Meets Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Expresses Respect for Vietnam’s Fight for Independence

Vietnam — Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto concluded his working visit to Hanoi by meeting with Vietnam’s Prime Minister, H.E. Pham Minh Chinh, on Saturday, September 14.

During the meeting, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to continuing cooperation in various sectors with Vietnam, a nation Indonesia considers a close and longstanding friend.

“We recognize Vietnam as a good friend and partner, and we deeply admire Vietnam’s struggle for independence, which has become an inspiration to people around the world,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo also underscored the importance of maintaining regional stability and further strengthening the relationship between Indonesia and Vietnam in the years to come.

Additionally, Prabowo sought Vietnam’s support for the joint leadership of Indonesia and the United States in the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus Experts’ Working Group (ADMM-Plus EWG) on Military Medicine for the 2024-2027 cycle.

“Indonesia is also seeking Vietnam’s continued support for the success of the joint leadership of Indonesia and the United States in the ADMM-Plus EWG on Military Medicine during the 2024-2027 cycle,” Prabowo added.

The meeting was attended by high-ranking Vietnamese officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, as well as leaders from various ministries such as Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, Public Security, Defense, Information and Communications, Natural Resources and Environment, Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Vietnam’s Ambassador to Indonesia.
