President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, was touched by the heartfelt letters he received from junior and senior high school students at Sekolah Rakyat in Cibinong, West Java. In a recent post on the Cabinet Secretariat’s official Instagram account, it was shared that President Prabowo personally took the time to read the letters in his office. The post included photos of President Prabowo engrossed in the letters and a close-up of a student’s handwritten note.
One of the students, Erni Andayani, poured her emotions into a letter expressing her gratitude to President Prabowo for establishing Sekolah Rakyat, which has provided her and other students access to quality education and a renewed sense of hope. Erni’s letter highlighted the impact of the school and the opportunities it has brought to underprivileged students like herself.
Sekolah Rakyat was officially inaugurated for the 2025-2026 academic year under the management of the Ministry of Social Affairs. The school aims to support children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and currently operates in 63 locations throughout Indonesia, including Java, Sumatra, Sulawesi, and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The establishment of Sekolah Rakyat has opened doors for students to pursue their dreams and become the “Golden Generation” of the nation.
This initiative has provided a ray of hope for many students who previously had limited educational opportunities, and the heartfelt letters from the students at Sekolah Rakyat serve as a reminder of the positive impact of such initiatives on young lives.
