European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has announced a new visa policy during a joint press conference with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. The policy allows Indonesian citizens making their second visit to the European Union to be eligible for a multi-entry Schengen visa. This decision aims to deepen long-term ties between Indonesia and the EU, especially in areas such as education, investment, and social exchange. Von der Leyen emphasized that the visa policy is part of the people-to-people connections pillar in the EU-Indonesia strategic partnership, building bridges between the two peoples. President Prabowo welcomed the deepening of ties, highlighting the importance of trust, shared values, and a shared vision for the future. He expressed hope for the finalization and signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in Brussels. With the new visa policy and growing economic partnership, Indonesia and the EU are entering a new chapter in their relations, characterized by openness, strategic cooperation, and benefits for citizens on both sides.
