The Canadian band, The Beaches, is making waves in the alternative rock music scene with their latest single “Touch Myself” from their upcoming third studio album, ‘No Hard Feelings’. Set to release on August 29th through AWAL, the album will feature 11 tracks showcasing The Beaches at their most solid, from indie melancholy in “Lesbian of the Year” to restlessness in “Can I Call You In The Morning?”.
In ‘No Hard Feelings’, The Beaches not only broaden their musical palette but also solidify themselves as a major force in the contemporary alt-rock scene. “Touch Myself” is the fourth single released ahead of the album, following tracks like “Did I Say Too Much” exploring complex and uncertain relationships, and “Last Girls at the Party” which is a more upbeat anthem for summer nights.
These songs come together to create a colorful and emotionally dynamic album. Earlier released track “Jocelyn” delves into personal issues like impostor syndrome with a dreamy touch. Regarding “Touch Myself”, The Beaches describe it as a portrait of deep-seated sorrow that seeps into the most private realms of one’s life.
The song is not just an emotional release but a bold and honest narrative written with a sarcastic yet empathetic tone. The crunchy guitar, mid-tempo rhythm, and expressive vocals make “Touch Myself” sound like a burst of unfiltered thoughts, loud, bitter, and raw. Following a warm reception from their performance at Governors Ball in New York City, The Beaches continue their momentum with appearances at major festivals like Osheaga Festival in Montréal and various festivals across Europe.
They are scheduled to perform at Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta in August, as well as All Things Go Festival in Maryland before starting their main tour in North America. The tour will run from September to mid-November, hitting major cities like New York City, Los Angeles, and Toronto, ending with a special hometown performance on November 15th.
In addition to their live shows, The Beaches are looking to provide fans with more experiences through a series of exclusive “Last Girls at the Party” DJ sets in various cities worldwide. The final event is set to take place in Montréal in August, a celebration of their close relationship with their audience.
