A meeting was held at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta involving several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet. The focus of the meeting was to address the situation of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin were present, with Prabowo giving directives for finding solutions for the affected workers.
Prasetyo emphasized the president’s concern for the workers and stressed the urgency of resolving the issues following PT Sritex’s bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a new working scheme in the textile sector. Minister Yassierli praised the efforts of the curator in ensuring that former Sritex employees could potentially be rehired within the next two weeks.
Prabowo’s commitment to providing support and guidance is expected to bring relief to the affected PT Sritex employees. The Ministry of Manpower is actively protecting the rights of PT Sritex Group workers by ensuring they receive layoff compensation and other normative rights. The PT Sritex Curator Team is in the process of selecting investors to manage Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, which will ultimately lead to the reemployment of the laid-off workers. This initiative aims to provide stability to the impacted employees and offer a solution to their current predicament.
