Subsonic Eye and Bedchamber Collaborate on Split EP Balancing Act

Subsonic Eye, band indie rock from Singapore, and Bedchamber, an indie rock unit from Jakarta, collaborated on a split mini album (EP) titled Balancing Act which was released on October 28 through Kolibri Records, with a limited edition 7-inch vinyl to be released by Big Romantic Records.

As part of this project, Subsonic Eye released their first single, “Not Linear.” The song serves as an anthem that describes the ups and downs of life, capturing the frustration of being stuck in a cycle between progress and setbacks.

“I often feel like there are many things in myself that need to be fixed,” vocalist Nur Wahidah explained, “and every time I feel like I’m on the right path, something happens and it feels like I’m back at square one. I hate being reminded that I haven’t reached my goal because it makes me feel incapable. But I realize that progress doesn’t always go straight – and that I never really go back to zero.”

Nur’s sincere lyrics are combined with Subsonic Eye’s signature style, with fuzzy guitars and dynamic rhythms, creating a song that is full of emotion yet also empowering.

The music video for “Not Linear,” directed by bassist Sam Venditti, depicts the theme of the song from the perspective of a Remote Control car passing through urban landscapes. Sam explained, “This small car reflects our modern lives that often feel cramped and limited, reinforcing the small feelings we often experience. We chose to use a POV perspective to give a more personal and DIY vibe.”

Balancing Act is evidence of the synergy and admiration between these two bands. Bedchamber, inspired by the musical changes of Subsonic Eye, sees this EP as a natural continuation of their friendship and creative collaboration.

On the other hand, Subsonic Eye appreciates Bedchamber’s “cool and stylish musical approach” as the perfect match for their own music.
