“We are Brothers”: The Meeting Moment of Prabowo Subianto and the Palestinian President at the Gaza Summit

Jordan — A warm moment unfolded as the President-elect of Indonesia for 2024-2029, Prabowo Subianto, met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on the sidelines of the “Call for Action: Urgent Humanitarian Response for Gaza” summit held in Amman, Jordan, on Tuesday, June 11.

The two immediately exchanged firm handshakes. Prabowo and Mahmoud Abbas appeared enthusiastic, despite the brief nature of their meeting following the forum.

During the encounter, Mahmoud expressed his gratitude for Indonesia’s support for Palestine, voiced through Prabowo. He even referred to Prabowo as a brother.

“Thank you very much. We know about you,” said Mahmoud.

“We are not just friends. You are a brother,” he continued.

In addition to expressing thanks, Mahmoud also appreciated the speech delivered by Prabowo at the summit. He described the President-elect of Indonesia for 2024-2029 as a smart individual.

“I was very pleased to hear your speech, to learn about you. You are very smart, and you get straight to the point,” Mahmoud commented.

“Yes, sir. We are very supportive of Palestine,” Prabowo responded to Abbas’s praise.

During this moment, Prabowo also conveyed Indonesia’s readiness to do whatever it can to assist Palestine.

“If there’s anything else we can do, we will do it,” Prabowo stated.

This meeting underscored the strong solidarity between Indonesia and Palestine, reflecting Indonesia’s commitment to supporting Palestine’s cause.
